Diarrhoea occurs when you have loose, watery stools more frequently then your regular bowel movement pattern. Causes of diarrhoea include bacteria, viruses, parasites and certain intolerances of food. However, sometimes no actual cause is found.
Although extremely uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing, diarrhoea is not usually harmful.
Common symptoms of diarrhoea include:
- Frequent, watery motions
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea and vomiting
- Stomach pains
- Fever
- Dehydration
